1 Your total budget

For the frame and all parts together. You can change it any time.

2 Pick your frameset

Frames that leave room in your budget for all the parts come first.

3 Choose your parts

Pick a frameset first. The steps below adjust to the frame you choose.

Shift and brake levers

Your levers decide the speed count for the whole drivetrain, so pick these first. Road bars take combined shift/brake levers; flat bars take separate shifters and brake levers.

Brakes

Match your frame: disc brakes for a disc frame, rim brakes for a rim-brake frame. You need a front and a rear.

Rear derailleur

Same brand and speed count as your shifters.

Front derailleur optional

Skip it for a 1x (single chainring) build.

Crankset
Bottom bracket optional

Must match your frame's shell and the crank spindle. Not sure? WhatsApp us.

Cassette

Same speed count as your shifters.

Chain

Chains are speed-specific: an 11-speed chain won't run right on a 12-speed cassette.

Wheelset

Match your frame's wheel size and brake type (disc or rim).

Tyres and tubes optional
Handlebar
Stem

Check the clamp diameter matches your handlebar (31.8mm is most common).

Bar tape or grips optional
Saddle
Seatpost optional

Many framesets come with a seatpost. Check the frame description first.

Pedals
Brake rotors optional

For disc-brake frames only.
